Centurion business complex to face charges for illegal electricity reconnection
Updated | By Mapaballo Borotho
The City of Tshwane will open a criminal case against a business complex in Centurion on Thursday for illegally reconnecting electricity supply to its premises.
The city said it disconnected the business complex from the electricity grid last week due to non-payment.
The business complex owes the city more than R3 million.
"It was brought to the city’s attention today that the business complex has illegally reconnected its electricity without making any arrangements with the city," said spokesperson Lindela Mashigo.
"As part of its revenue collection campaign known as #TshwaneYaTima, the municipality is continuously identifying nonpaying businesses, government departments, individual households and residential estates across the city’s seven regions whose accounts are in arrears.”
