Chaos at Wits
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
Teargas and rubber bullets were fired at protesting students at the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) on Tuesday.

Classes were expected to resume after a poll found that 77 percent of students want to continue with their studies, but student leaders vowed to shut down campuses as part of the call for free higher education.
"We told the police this morning that our numbers were coming. Now we need to prove to the President of this country that when people ask you about free education, you don't respond with militancy, you respond to the call they are making, a student said.
Police fired rubber bullets, teargas and stun grenades to disperse a group of protesting students marching from the west campus to the main campus.
