The charges, laid at the Pretoria Central Police Station, comes amid allegations that Marietha Aucamp lied about being in possession of a B-Tech degree.

The ANC in Tshwane's Lesego Makhubela says while they have not laid any charges against Msimanga they do expect him to resign over the debacle.

"We have made it clear on the evidence we gave you, Marietha is the one who committed herself that she has a B-Tech, misleading those who were interviewing her.

"Secondly, the mayor went on air saying should it be found that he was part of these things and understood that he was a person appointing someone who just has a matric, then he will resign," Makhubela told a media briefing at Tshwane House.

The ANC also claims to be in possession of evidence that Msimanga was part of the panel that assessed Aucamp, something he has denied.

"He pleaded ignorance to the matter he said he wasn't part of it and doesn't know anything.

"This document shows who the interviewers were and how they scored. Among other things the mayor says he remembers a part of it."

The City of Tshwane's spokesperson Selby Bokaba could not comment on Aucamp's B-Tech degree but says a candidate can be granted a waiver when applying for a job.

"A person may deemed suitably qualified for a job if that person has any of or a combination of formal qualification, relevant experience, prior learning and the capacity to acquire a knowledge of that job within a reasonable period of time.

"The law is clear on that, now the issue is did she declare that she has or doesn't have a formal qualification. That is something that the investigation will have to uncover and I am not in a position to pre-empt the outcome of the investigation."

The outcomes of an investigation into Aucamp's qualifications is expected by Wednesday.
