Child raped, another killed in horrific Turffontein house robbery
Police in Turffontein in the south of Johannesburg have launched a manhunt for two suspects in connection with an horrific house robbery at the weekend.
Police are appealing for information after a child was raped and another killed in a house robbery in Turffontein.
The children apparently tried to protect their parents when two armed men stormed their home in the early hours of Sunday morning.
A 15-year old was raped.
“It is only two suspects that entered the premises. A manhunt has been launched,” says police spokesperson Lorraine van Emmerik.
Reports suggest that the incident might be linked to gang initiation but Emmerik says “it is a stand-out case, we have not had a case where three charges have been laid on one docket.”
The perpetrators stole only the family’s cell phones.
Cases of murder, rape, attempted murder and armed robbery are being investigated.
“I appeal to any community member in the area if they got information to please come forward. All information will be treated as confidential and will definitely be followed up,” Van Emmerik says.
