City officials in court for fraud

Four City of Cape Town officials are expected to appear in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court facing charges of Fraud on Tuesday.

The men were allegedly involved in a licencing scam and were arrested in July.
Three of them were arrested at work and escorted out of the Civic Centre by police. The fourth suspect was arrested at his home in Khayelitsha.
The officials allegedly issued fraudulent vehicle registration licences, mostly to taxi bosses.
Aside from the criminal charges they face, they are also expected to face internal disciplinary charges.
