City Power: No outages during Joburg cyber attack
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
City Power has moved to assure residents that the network breech that hit the city on Friday would not affect the supply of electricity.

Earlier, the City of Johannesburg announced that its website had been hacked.
The city relies on a central system for customer billing and calls which resulted in a city-wide disruption to online customer portals.

"The City of Johannesburg has detected a network breach on their ICT system so it means that they isolated their network and applications so that they can work on the system to ensure that everything is cleared s this is affecting city power," says City Power spokesperson Isaac Mangena.
"The system that supplies our electricity is not connected to this and as such, it won't be affected by this security breach on our ICT systems."
The city says it will recover the system slowly to avoid it crashing.
