Close to 900 police officers vaccinated in a day
Close to 900 men and women in blue received the Covid-19 jab in one day.
Police Minister Bheki Cele launched government’s inoculation campaign targeting 180 000 of the country’s police officers on Monday.
Two sites were set up, one at the Orlando Stadium and another at the Tshwane Police Academy.
More than 100 other sites are expected to go online soon.
The ministry’s spokesperson Lirandzu Themba described the rollout as successful.

Members of the force above the age of 60 and those with comorbidities are at the top of the list.
Since the start of the pandemic, 32 525 staff tested positive for Covid-19 - more than 30 000 have recovered.
More than 600 members have succumbed to Covid-related complications.
