Weather Forecaster, Wayne Venter, says from Friday their weather maps predict the mercury to start rising.

"We’re still going to have cold temperature and we have clearance happening from tomorrow into the weekend. We will have warming weather conditions over the eastern parts of the country," says Venter.

He adds the current system is moving over the eastern parts of the country.

"The upper air system is moving toward over the eastern parts of the country. It is still expected to bring scattered widespread rainfall especially over the eastern part of Mpumalanga and northern and eastern parts of KwaZulu-Natal for today," says Vender.

He says the rainfall is starting to clear over the  NorthWest, FreeState, Gauteng and some parts of Limpopo from today.

In the meantime, Venter says there is nothing unusual about rain falling over these areas during the winter season.

"It is still normal to receive the rainfall, it is not uncommon to have rainfall in winter,” adds Venter.

Meanwhile, a new cold front is heading to the coast.

"We have a weak cold front happening in parts of the Western Cape. We expect some rainfall along the Southern Coastal areas," concludes Venter.
