Consumer Commission 'assessing' Pick n Pay peanut butter recall
Updated | By Mmangaliso Khumalo
The National Consumer Commission says it's keeping a close eye on the recall of some peanut butter products by retail giant Pick n Pay.

The group announced on Saturday that it is recalling its No Name Smooth Peanut Butter, Eden Smooth Peanut Butter and Eden Crunch Peanut Butter due to health concerns.
The group is urging consumers to return the products that have an expiry date from now until July 2025.
The recall comes after in-house standard testing found the products to have higher than regulated levels of Aflatoxin, which may constitute a health risk.
National Consumer Commission spokesperson Phetho Ntaba said the commission is in the process of assessing the recall notification.
“We want to urge South Africans who are in possession of the recalled products to stop using or consuming the products, as they are not safe for their health. We say to South African consumers, take the product to the point of purchase for a full refund.
“We can confirm that we have received a recall notification from Pick n Pay on Friday. At the moment, the commission is assessing the recall notification, also looking at their communication strategy and other nitty-gritties around the recall.”
Pick n Pay said all affected stock had already been removed from its stores countrywide.
No other peanut butter brand at Pick n Pay is involved in the recall.
