The South African Weather Service says there will be a drop in temperatures in the province due to a cold front system over the central parts of the country.

Weather forecaster Moleboheng Manthata said there is a slight chance of thundershowers over the interior covering Johannesburg, the Free State and the eastern parts of the North West.

"For Friday's warning we have some winds that are expected at a yellow level 2 in the Free State, North West, Northern Cape and Eastern Cape. On Saturday the cold front will move over into the eastern parts and behind it we are expecting some light snows over the high lying mountains of the Eastern Cape and Western Cape," said Moleboheng.

"We are expecting the cold front to result into a drop in temperatures, especially over Gauteng. We are seeing cold to cool conditions over the central and southern parts and that will reach the Limpopo province on Sunday.”
