COPE: Brian Molefe being called Honourable Member is a mockery
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
The Congress Of the People (COPE) says the swearing in of former Eskom CEO Brian Molefe as an MP is bad news for South Africa.
Spokesperson Dennis Bloem says Molefe left Eskom under a dark cloud, following the Public Protector’s State of Capture report. Molefe was mentioned in the report due to his relationship with the controversial Gupta family, having paid multiple visits to their Saxonworld home.
“Brian Molefe left Eskom under a dark cloud only last month and today he must be called Honorable Member of Parliament, what a mockery. We want to reiterate what we have said that law abiding citizens can easily conclude that Parliament has become a safe haven for corrupt ANC crooks,” says Bloem.
Bloem says those involved in corruption in the ANC get promoted.
“It is so sad that it seems that when you are involved in corrupt activities in the ANC. It will secure you instantly and promote you to a higher office,” he says
