Cops, petrol attendants nabbed for fraud in NW

Police in North West have arrested four police officers and two petrol attendants on 300 counts of fraud.
It’s believed the cops colluded with petrol attendants between January and December 2020 using state vehicle fuel cards to pay for fuel that was never filled.
The suspects, who were arrested on Tuesday, would then claim the money and share it among themselves.
The police were stationed in Coligny near the local petrol filling station.
Police spokesperson Amanda Funani says it was established that some of the claims were processed while the vehicles were at the police garage for repairs.
“Subsequent to these irregularities, an investigation was conducted and led to the arrest of these members, aged between 43 and 56. Furthermore, two petrol attendants, aged 38 and 58, who have been turned into state witnesses, were arrested,” says Funani.
The suspects are expected to appear in the Coligny Magistrate's Court on Thursday.
Funani says more arrests are imminent.
