Cosas condemns call for schools to be torched
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
The Congress of South African Students (Cosas) in Gauteng has condemned a statement by its greater Johannesburg region calling for the burning of private schools.
Screengrabs of the statement made the rounds on social media last night, calling for private schools to be burnt down and vandalised.
Cosas provincial chairperson Thabang Mahlomuza says while they have issues with private schools, they have never called on members to vandalise property.
He says they've asked the region to act against those who put out the statement.
"We will advise the regional executive committee of Cosas in Johannesburg to sit down and speak to us before they issue statements," says Mahlomuza.
