Cosatu calls on govt to explore corporate tax hike
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
Cosatu has vowed to continue its war against the recent hike in value-added tax.

The trade union federation is calling for government to reverse its decision to hike VAT by one percent.
Spokesperson Sizwe Pamla said they met with the African National Congress (ANC) at an alliance level yesterday - and expressed concern that ordinary South Africans have been left exposed.
"To look at the electricity tariff hike and the price of petrol as well as the cost of living in general - the VAT decision was a mistake.
"We are hoping that they can at least explore a situation where they can increase corporate tax to cover the budget shortfall, giving relief to poor households and making sure that either they expand the basket of zero-rated goods or reverse the increase of VAT," Pamla said.
