Court hears of ‘pressure’ to prosecute Duduzane Zuma
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
Duduzane Zuma’s defence team has argued that pressure may have played a role in the prosecution of former president Jacob Zuma’s son, Duduzane.
Duduzane appeared in the Randburg Magistrates court for closing arguments on Thursday.
He is facing charges of culpable homicide and negligent driving, for an accident that involved his Porsche and a minibus taxi in 2014.

It is alleged that Duduzane’s car hit a puddle of water, which resulted in him losing control of his vehicle killing passenger, Phumzile Dube.
“It appears that there may have been a lot of pressure to prosecute Duduzane,” defense lawyer Michael Hellens argued.
According to Hellens, a combination of factors led to the fateful accident. This included heavy rainfall, unexpected and unforseeable puddle, aquaplaning and a vehicle which ‘turned’.
Judgement is expected to be handed down on July 12.
