The Vanderbijlpark Magistrates Court has heard that Laerskool Kollegepark teacher Tharina Human was behind the kidnapping of 6-year-old Amy'Leigh de Jager.
Human and her two co-accused, Laetitia Nel and Pieter van Zyl, returned to court for a formal bail application on Thursday.
Investigating officer Clayton Motloung took the stand.
Motloung told the court that during the investigation into the R2 million ransom demand, Nel confessed to the crime saying but told police the kidnapping was Human's idea.
Human subsequently admitted to police that she plotted the kidnapping because she owed a Nigerian money.
The man apparently threatened to take away her eight-year-old daughter if she failed to pay.
Motloung also revealed that Human is very close to De Jager's family and that Amy’Leigh’s five-year-old brother is in her classroom.
He said Human's initial plan was to get herself abducted so that her family can pay a ransom, but the plan failed.
