Covid-19 claims life of popular Afrikaans actor Ben Kruger

Veteran actor, writer and producer Ben Kruger has died from Covid-19 complications.
Kruger passed away on Wednesday.
The 64-year-old was known for his role as Okkie Ferreira in the popular Afrikaans soapie of Binnelanders on KykNET.
Corne Oosthuizen, of CO Productions, has described Kruger as one of the most accessible people in the industry.
"He was very accessible as a veteran actor, always friendly, with a very firm hand at every event and festival and events. He will be missed and good luck to his family, friends, and the whole team at Binnelanders.”
Kruger also landed a role in the 1997 movie 'Mandela and De Klerk' where he played James Gregory, who was a former prisoner and later friend to Nelson Mandela.
The seasoned actor also starred in ‘Zero Tolerance’,’ 7de Laan’, ‘Jacob's Cross’, ‘Silent Witness’, ‘Soul Buddyz’, ‘Riemvasmaak’, and ‘Triptiek’.
