Covid-19 deaths continue to soar

Covid-19 related deaths in South Africa continue to increase, with over 700 new fatalities recorded in the latest report.
Statistics released by Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize show that a further 753 more people have succumbed to the deadly virus.
KwaZulu-Natal accounted for the most number of fatalities at 261, followed by Limpopo at 219.
Mkhize adds however that not all the fatalities in Limpopo were recorded on one day, saying Limpopo “continues to conduct audits of the deaths in hospitals and updating the figures”.

The Western Cape has recorded 102 new deaths, Gauteng 75, the North West 50 and the Free State 17 new virus deaths..
In Mpumalanga 16 more people succumbed to the deadly virus, while in the Northern Cape 7 more people have also died.
The Eastern Cape recorded 6 more fatalities.
This brings the total number of Covid-19 related deaths in the country to 42 550.
