Covid-19 positivity rate edges towards 25%

Close to 25% of people who tested for Covid-19 in the 24 hours leading up to Monday evening, have tested positive.
Statistics released by the National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD) show that 9 160 people tested positive yesterday.
That’s out of the 36 858 people who got tested.
A further 93 Covid-19 related deaths have also been recorded, bringing the total number of fatalities in the country to 58 795.

Gauteng continues to record the most number of positive cases at 69%, followed by the Western Cape at 9%.
Hospital admissions have also increased by 341, bringing those admitted in hospital as a result of Covid-19 to 9 503.
