DA to lay corruption charges against Mduduzi Manana

The Democratic Alliance (DA) has confirmed it will be laying corruption and extortion charges against ANC MP Mduduzi Manana.
A charge of assault was recently laid against Manana by his domestic worker but later withdrawn.
She alleged Manana shoved her down the stairs.
"Our charge follows the release of a voice clip where Manana could be heard trying to extort his former domestic worker. Manana who clearly abused his privileged position subjected the victim to financial pressure to avoid further prosecution," says DA MP Terri Stander.

Police Minister Bheki Cele confirmed on Friday that while the victim has withdrawn the case, police are still investigating the case.
Last year, Manana pleaded guilty to assaulting three women after a video footage of him and others striking women at a restaurant went viral.
He was later ordered to compensate the women R100 000 each and foot their medical bills.
