DA: Ramaphosa must map out a clear post-lockdown path
Democratic Alliance (DA) interim leader John Steenhuisen has urged President Cyril Ramaphosa to map out a clear path for the country as it emerges from the national lockdown.
President Ramaphosa will on Thursday evening announce measures to ease the lockdown and open up the economy.
Ramaphosa imposed a hard lockdown on March 26 in an effort to limit the transmission of coronavirus.
Steenhuisen says the lockdown is not just an economic liability but a humanitarian one as well.

"We're really urging the president to set out a very clear path out of the hard lockdown which is now no longer economically sustainable or sustainable on a humanitarian level.
"We have many South Africans whose livelihoods have been destroyed and they are unable to feed their families.”
He says Ramaphosa should also make the wearing of cloth masks mandatory.
"But in this process what's also going to be announced is maximum transparency on a lot of the key indicators that are required.
"But also the progress on the roll out of the economic stimulus package measures. The R350 per month, the UIF and we need to know how the Solidarity Fund is being spent.
"The more knowledge we can put in the hands of citizens the more intelligent the response is going to be in terms of managing the virus."
