DA slams Lindiwe Sisulu’s spending habits
Updated | By Mmangaliso Khumalo
The Department of Human Settlements, Water and Sanitation spent more than R287 million on travel, flights, catering, and flowers between 2018 and 2021.
This was during the tenure of Lindiwe Sisulu.
A response by current Human Settlements Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi to a parliamentary question revealed that Sisulu’s departments also spent R161 million on travel; R61 million on flights; and R28 584 554 on luxury accommodation.
The DA's Emma Powell says the enormous expenditure is further proof of government’s uncaring attitude.
"This enormous expenditure proves to the South African people yet again, that the ANC government do not care about them. While millions go to sleep hungry, the ANC and their cadre-stacked departments are jet-setting across the country, eating away at the trough of patronage.”
