DA to table motion of no confidence against Cabinet

DA leader John Steenhuisen has announced that the party will table a motion of no confidence against President Cyril Ramphosa’s entire Cabinet.

On Monday, MPs debated Ramaphosa’s State of the Nation Address at city hall in Cape Town.
Steenhuisen made it clear that the motion would not be against Ramaphosa.
“Here’s what’s going to happen Mr President, because you have shown that you are a president of all talk and not a president of action, we are going to make it easier for you,” he said.
“Today I have tabled a motion of no confidence, not in you but in your entire Cabinet in terms of section 102 (1) of the Constitution. If it’s not possible for you to do right with the people of South Africa then we're gonna take the burden off your hands and let this house fire you.”

Steenhuisen described Ramaphosa’s speech, which has received mixed reaction, as being “taken from the DA’s playbook”.
However, ANC chief whip Pemmy Majodina says these claims by the DA are nothing but an overreach.
“The claim that we plagiarised their manifesto in the president’s planning is an overreach. Our economic perspectives are fundamentally different with the DA. We believe in the need for government to create an enabling environment for business to flourish, not some hostile take over.”
