DA wants SARS, SARB to probe Ramaphosa’s stolen cash
Updated | By Mmangaliso Khumalo
DA leader John Steenhuisen says the party wants the South African Revenue Service and Reserve Bank to investigate the money stolen from President Cyril Ramaphosa’s farm.
President Ramaphosa admitted to the theft of money in his response to criminal charges laid against him by former spy boss Arthur Fraser.
The Presidency has not revealed the amount which was stolen, although it has denied it was R60 million, as claimed by Fraser.
Steenhuisen says the party wants to know if the money was declared and if it carries tax implications, as per the Income Tax Act and Tax Administration Act.
"The nation deserves to know the truth behind this transaction, and the DA will ensure that this matter does not become another ANC cover-up."
