Dalai Lama, Graça Machel headline Tutu's 90th birthday celebrations

Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu will receive a hero's welcome for his 90th birthday with several high-profile guests expected to join the worldwide virtual celebration.
The Nobel Peace Prize laureate celebrates the milestone birthday on Thursday.
People from all over will listen to some of the world's greatest leaders at the 11th Tutu Peace Lecture, including the Dalai Lama and Graça Machel.
Fondly known as 'Arch', Tutu will spend much of the day surrounded by close family and friends before joining the online platform.
Tutu's daughter, Mpho Tutu-van Furth says the mood is jubilant at the Tutu residence in Cape Town.
"It's celebratory. It's just a celebration.
"Of course, in another year without Covid it might have been a bigger celebration, but it is a loving and a warm celebration," Mpho says.
The 90-year-old anti-apartheid and human rights activist. has been described as a voice of reason and hailed for his moral and ethical guidance to the nation.
"I couldn't possibly be more grateful for my father's life. I couldn't possibly be more grateful for the work he had done in the world; it has definitely changed lives for so many of us," Mpho adds.ALSO READ:
