Day 300 of the lockdown records 839 Covid-19 deaths

On day 300 of the national lockdown, the country has recorded a further 839 of Covid-19 fatalities.
This brings the total number of Covid-19 related deaths in the country to 38 288.
Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize says the number of Covid-19 related deaths that have been released on Tuesday night, are however not over a 24-hour period.
“The high number reported today is due to data reconciliation as part of the regular auditing process which includes the analysis of community data taking into account (amongst others): post mortem swabs, backlogged data and unconfirmed outcomes at facilities.”
KwaZulu-Natal recorded the highest number - with 263 new fatalities.

It’s followed by Limpopo, where 238 new coronavirus deaths have been reported.
In the Western Cape, 130 people have succumbed to the virus while the Eastern Cape has recorded 102 more fatalities.
Gauteng has 48 new deaths, the North West has recorded 25 deaths, the Free State has 20 deaths and the Northern Cape recorded 2.
The cumulative number of Covid-19 cases recorded since the start of the pandemic in March, now stands at 1 356 716.
Furthermore, the country’s recovery rated has increased to 84%.
