De Klerk adds his voice to Sars Wars debacle
Updated | By Slindelo Masikane
Former president FW de Klerk has described the drama around the Minister of Finance Pravin Gordhan as a tragedy.

De Klerk has added his voice to the Sars Wars debacle surrounding Gordhan and two other former Sars officials.
FW de Klerk was speaking on the side-lines of the launch of the Centre for unity in diversity in Melrose Arch.
De Klerk lashed out at the Hawks for the manner in which they've handled the situation - saying it could have dire consequences for the country's economy.
"The way in which it is being handled and what I perceive to be a form of arrogance from the Hawks is unacceptable and it is harming the interests not of Pravin Gordhan. It is harming the interests of all South Africans," he said.
He added that good governance and the fight against corruption has taken a downward turn under the leadership of President Jacob Zuma.
"I think that, under his leadership, the ANC government has taken a wrong direction. I think we are not governed well. I think the fight against corruption is not an effective fight. Corruption is taking place hand-over-hand and is still growing, even. I think cadre deployment has hurt our economy and effective service delivery. I'm highly critical of President Zuma's regime and the lack of good governance we are experiencing."
