De Ruyter says Gordhan made life ‘very difficult’
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
Former Eskom CEO Andre de Ruyter has told MPs that Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan made life for him, as an accounting officer, "very difficult".
De Ruyter appeared before parliament's Standing Committee on Public Accounts on Wednesday following his controversial television interview in February.
In the interview, De Ruyter made several allegations about corruption at the power utility, claiming that “senior politicians” were involved.
"I think Minister Gordhan is known for a style that is characterized as being extremely involved in operational detail down to individual power station units, down to speaking to middle-ranking officials in the organisation bypassing myself and chief operating officer, head of generation.

"So there were examples of interventions on day-to-day operations. Whether that was to gain information or verify it, I don't know but it made life as a responsible accounting officer very difficult. Many different cooks in the kitchen do not always result in a good meal," says de Ruyter.
Meanwhile, Eskom has released a statement on De Ruyter's appearance before Scopa stating that "nothing new" has come out of his appearance.
