Gauteng police say three people have been killed in the violence that erupted in various parts of Soweto.

Police are on high alert following the deadly aftermath of the violence that erupted in the south of Johannesburg on Wednesday.
Gauteng police spokesperson Lungelo Dlamini, says 27 people have been arrested after violent clashes between foreign national shop owners and Soweto residents.
"The last person died late last night in hospital. A suspect was arrested for murder. Two were arrested for illegal possession firearms. Three firearms have been confiscated from the suspects."
Police will be deployed to various areas on Thursday as some foreign shop owners have fled the area due to fears for their lives.
It's unclear what led to the violence which saw several shops looted.

Residents claim that owners produce illicit goods and sell expired goods in the townships.
Government has since condemned the violence, urging residents not to take the law into their own hands.
"We therefore appeal to members of the public to cooperate by reporting fake or substandard goods," says spokesperson, Phumla Williams.
