Denosa bemoans impact of taxi strike on Cape Town health workers
Updated | By Mapaballo Borotho
The Democratic Nursing Organisation of South Africa (Denosa) warned on Friday that the ongoing taxi strike in Cape Town is putting the lives and livelihoods of healthcare workers in the city at risk.

The union said it had received reports of some workers walking for hours to get home after work on Thursday because there were no taxis, whereas others had their cars set alight and destroyed.
Taxi organisations around the Cape Peninsula embarked on a mass stay-away on Thursday following violent clashes between taxi operators and law enforcement this week.
The stay away is set to last until 10 August.
Denosa’s acting provincial secretary Jaco Van Heerden said a situation cannot be allowed to drag on for another week.
"Denosa appeals to the City of Cape Town, provincial and national government to intervene in the situation and find common ground in the interest of saving lives, jobs and the economy.”
