Department hopes to complete leaked exam investigation soon

The Department of Basic Education hopes to complete its investigations into the exam leak in Limpopo before the end of the month.

The Maths 2 matric exam paper was leaked in Giyani.
Tinyiko Khosa, who owns two independent schools in Malamulele, has been arrested in connection with the leak. He has been charged with theft, fraud and corruption.
Hearings for pupils who had access to parts of the exam paper are currently underway.
Education spokesperson Elijah Mhlanga says this is to make sure that learners know the outcomes of the hearings when the results are released in January.
"In the next week we will be announcing progress in that regard, because there is a date in the middle of December where the Provincial Examinations Irregularities Committee is going to sit and consider the merit of the recommendations that are going to be made by the investigations," says Mhlanga.
