Tropical storm Dineo moving in on Limpopo, Mpumalanga
Updated | By MornéJK
The tropical cyclone Dineo is currently off the southern coast of Mozambique, seawards of Inhambane and Masinga.
That's according to the South African Weather Service's Chief Forecaster, Kevin Rae.
"It is just off the southern coast of Mozambique at the moment and it is likely to make landfall early this evening," Rae says.
He adds that the cyclone will experience intensify further, associated with strong and damaging winds as well as torrential rains, storm serges and very rough seas.
"There won't be an immediate effect on South Africa today, but as the system moves inland the latest track is expected to take it due east to west," he says.

Heavy rain is expected in the southern parts of Mozambique tonight with rain that will hit parts of Limpopo and Mpumalanga tomorrow.
"The cyclone will finally weaken in the Thohoyandou area of Limpopo on Friday because the moment a cyclone hits land it is derived from all the energy of the ocean," he says.
Rae adds that the main threat for Limpopo and Mpumalanga is heavy rain that could lead to flash floods.
