The suspects pounced while the victims were leaving Brooklyn Mall.
The diplomatic police robbery confirmed the incident, saying it was witnessed by a United Nations staff member.
“A male and two females were driving out of the shopping mall in Brooklyn when they were accosted by three armed suspects who pointed the driver with a firearm and demanded that he open the door,” said Gauteng police spokesperson Mavela Masondo.
“The suspects then robbed the victims' cell phones and jewellery. No injuries were reported.”
