Discovery delays increase in monthly premiums for second consecutive year
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
Discovery has again delayed the implementation of increases in monthly premiums for its members.
It is the second year in a row the medical aid scheme has delayed the increases.
A 7.9% increase will come into effect in May 2022, however.
CEO Ryan Noach says this will provide a contribution relief of more than R4 billion for its members.

“After delaying the annual contribution increases for 2021 by 6 months to 1 July 2021, the Scheme announced that the annual contribution increases of 7.9% for 2022 would only be implemented from 1 May 2022.
“With lingering COVID-19 economic effects, the deferred contribution increase provides much needed contribution relief for members of Discovery Health Medical Scheme.”
