Public Service and Administration Minister Ayanda Dlodlo has resigned.
Dlodlo will leave the public sector to take up a new job as an executive director on the board of the World Bank in Washington in the United States.
President Cyril Ramaphosa has appointed Employment and Labour Minister Thulas Nxesi to stand in Dlodlo’s cabinet post.
“The president wishes the former minister well in her new responsibility in which she will be one of three board members representing the interests of 25 African member states,” says the Presidency’s acting spokesperson Tyrone Seale.
Nxesi will continue to perform his responsibilities as Labour Minister while acting Minister of Public Service and Administration.
“President Ramaphosa also wishes Acting Minister Nxesi well in providing continuity in the functioning and impact of the Department of Public Service and Administration.”
Dlodlo served government in various leadership roles since 2017 including, four ministerial portfolios - Communications, Home Affairs, State Security and Public Service and Administration.
She was appointed to the Public Service and Administration portfolio in August last year during a Cabinet reshuffle after facing harsh criticism at the helm of State Security.
