DNA tests of Shosholoza Meyl victims still underway
Updated | By Sinethemba Madolo
The Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa says it's still trying to identify three victims, believed to have died in the Shosholoza Meyl train crash in Free State last month.
In January, a truck driver allegedly attempted an illegal U-turn at the Geneva level crossing between Hennenman and Kroonstad and collided with the train travelling from Port Elizabeth to Johannesburg.
The accident allegedly killed 24 passengers, with 21 being successfully identified.
Prasa spokesperson, Sipho Sithole, says DNA test on the remains that were only found last week are still underway.

Sithole says they hope to bring closure to other families that have reported their members as still missing.
Sithole says 16 funerals have taken plus thus far, from Gauteng, Free State and the Eastern Cape and they will be attending two more this coming weekend.
He says there is one more family that has had a positive identification but is waiting on the other families to receive their results from the remains that were recently found.
