Dove removes ad following social media storm
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
Beauty brand Dove has found itself in a social media storm
for an advert which shows a black woman turning white after using its soap.
The outcry on social media is particularly directed at the first frame - where a black woman is seen taking off a brown t-shirt, revealing a white woman in the next frame.
"This did not represent the diversity of real beauty which is something Dove is passionate about and is core to our beliefs, and it should not have happened," Dove says in a statement.
Meanwhile, some social media users have reacted to the video, labelling the ad racist.
The #BoycottDove hashtag is trending.
