According to political analyst Tasneem Essop, "we're going to have to wait for every vote" to be counted.
Political analyst Tasneem Essop says it's "down to the wire" in Gauteng as South Africans wait for the results of the 2019 National and Provincial elections.
On Friday morning, with vote counting completed at 55% of Gauteng's voting districts, the African National Congress (ANC) had secured 50% of votes cast. However, major metros' results, including Johannesburg and Tshwane were yet to be released in full.

According to Essop, "we're going to have to wait for every vote" to be counted.
She says the ANC might hold on to a majority in the province, but if they drop below 50% they won't have a lot of choices.
"What this is ultimately going to go down to is the negotiations behind closed doors,' she says of the potential coalition dynamics.
