Police in Limpopo have arrested a driver
who crammed 44 passengers - including seven children - into a 22 seater taxi.

The provincial department of transport's Matome Tauyatswala says the vehicle was stopped on the N1 near Polokwane.

Officials are also in the process of authenticating the passengers' paperwork.
"They are claiming that the taxi they were travelling into had difficulty continuing with the journey so they had take the entire load from the taxi and load it into another one," Tauyatswala says.
Tauyatswala urged motorist to stop overloading vehicles, as it could lead to burst tyres and a loss of life.
"Tyre burst eventually leads to fatalities that we have seen on the N1 in the past few days.”
