Drugs worth R1.5m confiscated at OR Tambo

The Hawks in Gauteng have confiscated drugs worth R1.5m at O.R. Tambo International Airport.
Hawks spokesperson, Philani Nkwalase says the team based in Germiston were summoned to the airport on Wednesday about a suspected drug shipment.
"The police were alerted by a courier company which found 11 bags suspected to be drugs weighing 25 kg each,” says Nkwalase.
“The suspected drugs wrapped in visible plastic were concealed as spare parts in a brown container."
Nkwalase says the suspected drugs were taken to the forensic laboratory for analysis.
No arrest has been made and the investigation continues.
