‘Drunk’ scholar transport driver set to appear in court

A scholar transport driver is set to appear in court on Friday after he was involved in a crash near FNB Stadium in Nasrec, south of Johannesburg, on Thursday morning.
The Toyota Quantum driver is alleged to have been driving while under the influence of alcohol when he crashed into another car, which was also transporting pupils to school.
“Seven occupants of the sedan and ten from the Quantum sustained serious to moderate injuries and were transported to various hospitals,” said Gauteng Traffic Police spokesperson Obed Sibasa.
“The male driver of the Toyota Quantum was arrested for reckless and negligent driving and driving under the influence of alcohol. He was detained at Booysens Police Station and will appear in court tomorrow (Friday).”
