The call for Rees’ resignation is part of a list of demands the EFF made to the regulatory body during a march to their headquarters in Tshwane on Friday.

EFF leader Julius Malema described Rees as a stumbling block to the approval of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine and the Sinovac jab from China.

“We will announce after seven days, if Helen Rees has not resigned, we are going to her house. We are going to her house to do a sit-in... We will sleep there day and night until she resigns as a chairperson of Sahpra. We are not joking because we are not going to allow lovey-dovey and pillow talk on vaccines.”

Scores of EFF supporters pitched up for the protest on Friday, despite the worrying surge in Covid-19 numbers in Gauteng.

Malema vowed to continue with what he described as rolling mass action until everyone in the country has been vaccinated.

He also warned that the EFF will continue to defy the lockdown regulations.

“Level four, level five, we don’t care. We are no longer going to entertain any lockdown. If Cyril Ramaphosa announces lockdown level five, in the EFF we continue business as usual. We are no longer going to comply with that nonsense.”
