EFF: SACP and ANC using Metsimaholo to settle factional scores

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) says the Democratic Alliance (DA) has agreed to work with them to ensure the African National Congress (ANC) does not regain power in the Metsimaholo Municipality.

The Metsimoholo council meeting was postponed until next week Tuesday after the ANC and the South African Communist Party (SACP) failed to attend, which led to council not reaching quorum.

The EFF's Mbuyiseni Ndlozi said they are also in talks with SACP, although it believes the communists are unwilling to remove the ANC from power.

He also warned that the two parties may be trying to settle factional battles within the ANC.

"This is because the two organizations in Metsimaholo represent two factions of the ANC and thus have agreed to await the outcomes of their national conference this Sunday. It is no secret that SACP belongs to Ramaphosa's campaign and the Metsimaholo ANC is with Dlamini-Zuma," Ndlozi said.

Ndlozi said their objective, in working with the DA, is to remove ANC from power and bring stability to the community.

"Our proposal to them was to use majority opposition votes to form an EFF-SACP government that will stabilize the municipality and rebuild the lives of the poor in Metsimaholo.

"Their absence in today's meeting is yet another act of complicity in causing instability in Metsimaholo.

"We want to warn the people of Metsimaholo and South Africa as a whole that SACP might return power to the same ANC that has long been rejected by the people."
