EFF slams appointment of Ranjeni Munusamy at Treasury
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has given Finance Minister Tito Mboweni seven days to reverse the appointment of journalist Ranjeni Munusamy from her post at National Treasury.
This comes after the minister tweeted two pictures on Tuesday night: "The core MTBPS speech drafting Team meeting today, October 20, 2020. to work on how to frame the speech. This is how it works: based on the Cabinet budget fiscal framework, different teams in the National Treasury write chapters in the big document, the core team drafts the speech."

Treasury also confirmed Munusamy’s participation in Treasury activities as a “a community outreach officer” in a radio interview on Wednesday
The minister’s post received backlash as soon as some of his followers noticed Munusamy in the picture.
Witnesses at the commission of inquiry into state capture claimed Munusamy was on the payroll of an intelligence slush fund, something she has denied.
Munusamy requested permission to cross-examine the witness but later said she would not be doing so, meaning the evidence has not been disputed.
Party spokesperson Vuyani Pambo says the EFF believes Munusamy is a compromised individual.
"One of the credible witnesses at the Commission on State Capture presented undisputed evidence that Ranjeni Munusamy has been on the payroll of an intelligence slush fund.
"This has not been disputed, despite her initial threats to challenge this compelling evidence.
"Munusamy has since gone undercover effectively confirming that she has indeed received unexplained, unaccounted and unlawful money from the intelligence slush funds.”
The EFF wants Mboweni to release Munusamy from her duties until all allegations against her have been cleaned.
"We give the minister a period of 7 days to discontinue the employment of Ranjeni Munusamy, or we will approach the relevant authorities and institutions to do it on his behalf.”
