Limpopo MEC for Transport and Community Safety, Florence Radzilani has raised concern over a number of fatal road accidents in the province.
This after seven people died when two sedans collided head-on, on R101 Sterkrivier Cross road in Waterberg district today.
MEC's spokesperson Vongani Chauke says both drivers and 5 other people perished on the scene.
In another accident reported today, a truck towing two trailers had brake failure, lost control and blocked all lanes of N1 road in Makhado.
The truck was thereafter hit by a sedan of which one person perished and four others sustained injuries.
“The number of fatal accidents happening during weekends are of great concern.
"Every week, we receive reports of fatal accidents during the weekends, especially during early hours in the morning or later at night.
"This clearly indicate to us that people should practice taking regular breaks and ensure that their vehicles are in a roadworthy condition before they embark on their trips," said Chauke.
