Eikenhof substation ablaze
Several areas in the south of Johannesburg have been plunged into darkness after the Eikenhof substation caught fire on Monday.
Kibler Park, Naturena, the Rand Water area and the Johannesburg Prison have been affected by the power outage.
City Power spokesperson Isaac Mangena says they do not yet know what started the fire.
"Our technicians have been dispatched and are on the way to the site and others have already arrived, and we should be able to determine the extent of the damage."
"We are not sure what caused the fire yet but we will update residents as we are there and we see what exactly transpired," he says.
