Elderly Free State farmer wounded in robbery
Police in the Free State are investigating a robbery on a farm in Clocolan outside Ficksburg.
A 60-year-old farmer was wounded during the robbery on Wednesday evening.
It is understood that the farmer arrived home and caught two suspects attempting to break into his safe.
He confronted one of the suspects, who then opened fire on the farmer before fleeing the scene.
The farmer was admitted to hospital with a gunshot wound on his thigh.
Police spokesperson Phumelelo Dhlamini said the suspects forced open the safe and managed to steal a semi-automatic rifle and .22 rifle with a telescope.
A laptop has also gone missing.
Police are investigating a case of burglary and attempted murder.
