Updated | By Sibahle Motha
Electricity supply to Eldorado Park has been fully restored a week after a fire at the main substation.
The Eldorado Park substation was gutted by the flames last Friday, leaving thousands of customers in the dark over the Easter week end and during the month of Ramadan.
City Power spokesperson Isaac Mangena says customers were switched on in the early hours of Saturday morning.
“Eldorado Park extension 7, 5,4,2 and Freedom Park and parts of Devland were switched on in the early hours of Saturday. The last of the repairs were completed on Friday as promised.

“But the main transformer had to be switched on for at least 12 hours before customers could be loaded gradually,” confirmed Mangena.
He adds the City has also a put an additional transformer on standby in an attempt to curb the power cuts.
“A transformer has also been brought back to site which can be used as an alternative especially with winter coming.”
