Electrical fault caused fire: Makhura
Gauteng Premier David Makhura says an electrical fault caused the fire at his office in Johannesburg this morning.
"As a result of a plug, the office caught fire on the seventh floor where there was someone who saw exactly what the cause of the fire is," says Makhura.
Makhura says the fire was contained to the seventh floor.
The finance departments operated from there.
The Premier says they have backups of documentation that was destroyed in the fire.
"All the files that was burnt, we have everything backed up off-site and that is part of our disaster recovery strategy. All our documents are safe," says Makhura.
