Eleven in court for Durban taxi shooting
Updated | By ANA
Eleven people appeared briefly in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Friday in connection with the taxi shoot-out that left three people dead.
National Prosecuting Authority spokeswoman Natasha Ramkisson-Kara said that the 11, together with a co-accused, who is in hospital, each face charges of public violence, three murder charges and a charge of attempted murder.
The charges related to Wednesday morning’s shooting at the Brook Street taxi rank near Berea Road Railway station when three people were killed.
The case was adjourned to September 23 for a formal bail application.
Ramkisson-Kara said the State would be opposing bail.
The 12 accused was in hospital being treated for a gunshot wound. It is understood that the man was shot in the buttocks during Wednesday’s shoot-out.
